Invitations to apply to the National Honor Society will go out by email to eligible sophomores and juniors the week of March 16.
NHS membership is nationally recognized as an honor because of the strict selection criteria– a procedure similar across the country. Election to membership means that students may list their membership on college and scholarship applications, job applications, and personal resumes now and in the future. It will give them special recognition.
To be eligible, students must have a 3.8 GPA. Students must also demonstrate exceptional qualities of leadership, character, and service to school and community. These criteria are set at the national level.
Invited students must submit their application and two teacher recommendations to Ms. White by Friday, March 20. All applications will be reviewed by a special council of teachers and administrators. Selected students will be notified by email on or before March 27.
